Precision steel blades unlike my previous clipper with plastic blades ! That's now going in the bin. This one's great. Didn't want to risk buying another cheap one & being disappointed again. Buy cheap buy twice as they say. So paid a little extra for the Babyliss which cuts my fine hair to 6mm precisely, without me having to go over & over it again. One minor niggle. The tip of the plastic clip on comb depth guides is a little sharp. Doesn't cut skin, but feels a little sharp if you get it at the wrong angle. Could have been made a bit little rounder. But my Philips beard trimmer is the same, so possibly the Babyliss in this respect is no different to any other make you can buy
